  1. Hi class, how is everyrhing going?Let´s talk about this interesting play called "Trifles".First of all, I would like to discuss the difference between law and justice. My guess is that the law is something that has been created to regulate the people´s behaviour because if you go against the law,you will probably go to prison. On the other hand, justice is what makes the law be obeyed by people. It has to do with situations that are fair or unfair. In this play, the ones who stand for the law are the county attorney and the sheriff, who would say that Minnie Foster should go to prison because of the murder she committed. On the other hand, the ones who stand for justice,in this case the women,Mrs hale and Mrs.Peters, would say that Minnie shouldn´t go to prison because of the unfair treatment she received from her husband.Otherwise,it will be an injustice in this troubled situation. What she needs according to women is psychological treatment.Besides, the women are in favour of her rights rather than the men´s rights.
These are my views in such a complicated discussion between two concepts that seem synonims but in fact they are not.
Bye class,I´m looking forward to reading your comments and sharing other possible ideas!

  2. Hello everyone! Ok, let’s talks about this. I go along with Cristian when he says that law and justice are two different concepts. On the one hand, LAW is the rule or norm that society follows so as not to live in chaos. If a person does not follow these rules, he or she will have problems with authorities. (at least, it is what is supposed to happen). And on the other hand, JUSTICE is what society considers correct. It has to do with moral values and depends on the different situations in which a person can be involved. In TRIFLES, we can see this difference: those who attend the law (county attorney and the sheriff) believe that Minnie HAS TO BE IN JAIL, because what she did was against the law. And those who stand for justice (Mrs hale and Mrs.Peters) consider that Minnie does not have to be in jail, and deem that she acted violently because of the unfair treatement she recieved from his husband. In a way, what they try to say is that he deserved it and that Minnie did JUSTICE.
Well, that's all concerning this topic. bye! see you in class!

  3. Hi class! How are you doing?
I will begin this post by making a comparison among law and justice, as Christian did. It is said in the dictionary that law is the whole system of rules that people must obey. Otherwise, society would be a chaos and people would do whatever they want to. Personally, I go along with the necessity of the law, because society needs a system that regulates and control people’s behavior and that system should be equal for all. On the other hand, as Valentina said, Justice has to do with moral values, human rights and with what society considers fair. From my point of view that is the big difference between the two terms I am discussing about: fairness. Several times, law is not fair with people and this is perfectly represented in the play: the county attorney and the sheriff stand for the law and the women, Mrs hale and Mrs.Peters, stand for justice. In my opinion, Mini should go to jail because she really kills her husband, but she has her reasons and motives for having done that.

  4. Hi everybody! how are you?
I cannot agree more with you girls and boy.
I totally go along with you, both in the definitions of the terms and the division of the characters.
I also reckon Minnie has done justice because of the bad treatment she received for so long, but the law is the law and she deserves a punishment.
Well, I think there is no more to be added..
    Have a wonderful holiday (finally)..
See you in the final exams!
    Bye bye!!!

  5. Hello everybody!!! By far this story is the most interesting I´ve ever read. It is so because of the differences I found concerning judgements on this particular situation. As Cristian already stated there´re two clear sides on this discussion. On the one hand, there are the men who are looking for evidences to take into account when it comes to a law judgment on the murder. What´s more, finding evidences is cuicial to bear out the power of the sheriff to judge and control Minnie´s behaviour. While on the other hand, the women stand for the justice on this case since they see what is fair and unfair in this poor woman´s everyday life. They realize about certain aspects in her life that lead her to take that decision. These ladies are well awared of the fact that they can´t trust men on this situation because they don´t understand what should be considered an act of justice or fairness.
This is my humble opinion! Jeje I hope to read your comments and know what´s your opinion on this interesting topic which is, by the way, very well dealt with in the story.
    See U soon!
    Bibi.

  6. Hi everyone! Well, I believe that all of you are right about your opinions! Law and Justice are not the same… in the first case, LAW, as you said, is the rules that people have to obey in a country so as to live in order. In the second case, JUSTICE has to do with fairness, with the way people are treated, with values. In a country, there is the same law for the population, but justice, to different people from the same country may mean different things. For instance, Minnie is on a trial for the death of her husband. The law would consider that she should go to prison for committing the murder, but there are women that believe that it is not fair, that it is not justice because of the fact that Minnie has suffered a lot because of him. So here, we can see the difference between law and justice, many times they contradict each other…

Well, that´s all… today holidays start! Let´s enjoy it!

  7. Hi everybody! I would say that I stand for justice. I believe that Minnie should be behind bars because she killed someone. However, I think that she is not to blame since she did so out of revenge. She was provoked to behave in that way. She was in a way desperate to find a way to end with her misery and that was the only solution she could find.

So Law is never the same as justice because law sometimes is unfair towards the wrong people. Mr Wright deserved that his wife had killed him.

This is my viewpoint. I hope you agree with me.. lol see ya!

  8. Hi! After reading my mates comments I can not be more agreed with them. Justice and law is no the same. I think that in the play “Trifles,” the two women, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, are the ones who stand for JUSTICE. Even though they knew what Mrs. Wright had done was wrong, they could understand her motives. When the two women realized about the cruelty and unfairness of Mrs. Wright’s husband, they thought they should hide the evidences of the crime. Whereas the women stand for justice, the county attorney and the sheriff stand for the LAW. The men represent the system of rules that people of a society have to obey. During the play they were looking for a piece of evidence against Mrs. Wright, while the two women stayed in the kitchen. They are determined to follow the rules and not to breaK the law.
    OK… that’s all… I hope you enjoy your vacation!
    Bye!!!
