CHAPTER 2 BEGINS!!!

Yes!!! The second term is about to begin and I intend to make the most of it. By now, besides having learnt your names (not an esay task for me!) I also know some things about each of you and I believe this knowledge will make it easier for me to find better ways to help you improve your mastery of the English language. But before we start this semester, I would like you to take a few minutes and write your thoughts about Language and EDI: how you feel you're doing so far, do you think you are making progress?, what your expectations are (I already know you expect to pass the midterm exam!!! and so do I), any aspects that could be improved or added. Your ideas will be very helpfull to me. I've also been talking to Brian about his work in class. Besides teaching some classes and helping us with vocabulary and pronunciation, I think it would be good for you to have personal meetings with him, on a one-to-one basis, so that after listening to you speak/read, he can give you some advice as to what you should improve. What do you think? He is also planning to carry out a project and you will probably take part in it.
I'm looking forward to reading your contributions. They will certainly make of our class a better environment to learn. Thanks and don't take too long!

  1. Hello again!! How are you doing?
Well, concerning Language, in my opinion the classes are really good and I enjoy them very much. I totally think I’m learning a lot and that’s amazing because this is what I’m looking for (less homework, please! Just kidding. I understand it is for us to learn better). I liked the presentations we prepared, it was an excellent activity. Taking into account EDI, personally speaking, the classes are great. Not only because we learn about teaching and practise the skills but also because we have fun. I’m really glad with this Taller since it’s different from any other subject and we put together everything we know. I reckon all the activities we have done can be useful for us when teaching.
Both Language and EDI are interesting and helpful subjects, so we must try to do our best and take advantage of them.
I truly like learning with games and the idea of the movie was nice.
Brian is a great helper. I’m thankful of this opportunity we have because we are having contact with a native speaker and this is something we can’t do everyday. The activities we did with “Trifles” were useful, thought provoking and entertaining. Thanks Brian!
Well, that’s all for now. I’m sure I will agree with your expectations and opinions.
    See you in two days!!!
    Love ya!

  2. Hi!!What about your winter recess?I hope you have enjoyed it!me too!
Let´s now talk a bit about the first "chapter" of the year of Language and EDI.
Concerning language,I have to say I liked the oral presentations because it is a great speaking excercise and also we have opportunities to talk about topics of our interest.I´m learning a lot of bicavulary from the book and also the games for the end of each unit is very helpful for me as it helps me remember things studied some time ago.The short stories are catching and tought provoking!
Taking into account EDI,I can say it is one of my favourite subjects because we do activities that are both really interesting and not so traditional.I liked the classes we have to prepare, the first activity of the year was very good also.I consider this subject a great opportunity to improve our speaking and writing abilities.
About the opportunity to have a native speaker working with us,I would say it is amazing and,as Loly said,it is not so common to have this kind of chance normally or everyday! Thanks a lot Brian!
Ok,this were my comments today!I´m looking forward to reading your own opinions and i will go along with them,no doubt.Bye,see you tomorrow!

  3. Hi people! Today we started our first class of the second term… So let´s analyze something about the first one.

I totally agree with both Loli and Cristian. I really enjoy the way you teach Language as well as EDI. The games, the movie, the stories are presented in an entertaining way so as to make the class a pleasurable place. A place where we can share our opinions and have a good time together!

The idea of the oral presentations was an important activity in order us to show more confidence and to let the rest of the class notice which our interests are. The fact of giving feedback to our mates makes me be more aware of the mistakes I some time do.
These were the positive points, let´s move to the negative ones! Jaja. You give us a lot of extra work and I, personally speaking, sometimes need more time to do it. However, I understand you want us to increase our knowledge so it is comprehensible because I know that I need to practice a lot so as to improve.

Talking about my expectations, I actually want to learn as much as I can (and to pass the midterm just as you mentioned! lol). I think that Brian is a good helper for the pronunciation and vocabulary as well. It is a great opportunity to take part in his teaching. But I know that the rest it is I who should make something to be better, so I will try to strive more to achieve my objectives.

Well, for me that´s all for today… see you tomorrow!

  4. Hello everybody!!! How are you????
Well, taking into account EDI, I consider it one of the most creative subject of the English teaching training programme. Moreover, it not only allows us to show a little bit about our own creativity but it also permits us to express our own opinions and thoughts about different topics and themes. Taking into consideration the “talleres”, I think that through them we can practise the four skills and learn a great deal of new vocabulary. What is more, we can behave as real teachers and we can increase our own confidence. I consider EDI one of my favourite subjects because it is interesting and it helps us to improve our English too.
Considering language, it helped me improve a lot my english. Moreover, watching the movie, reading short stories, the novel, and doing a lot of exercises allowed me to learn new structures as well as vocabulary.
    SEE YOU SOON!!!! BYe...

  5. Hello class! How do you do? I hope everything is fine. Here are my comments about Language and EDI:
Personally, as far as speaking is concerned, I think I’ve improved it a lot because I feel more confident and spontaneous than before and I really enjoy it. However, I know that I still have to pick up my pronunciation. The same happens with my writing skills. This year we’ve been writing a lot more than other years and that is great because we have more opportunities to continue practicing. Speaking about Brian’s help, I completely hold with the idea of organizing some personal meetings. As Liliana always says, we have to take advantage of the possibility we have to talk to a native speaker in our classes! Talking about the recommendations for Language, I think sometimes we are given so may works, tasks and exercises that then we don’t have time to correct them or to talk about them in class. Besides, in my opinion we should play more games, because they are so entertaining and they are a great tool to learn the new vocabulary.
    Well, I think that’s all.
    Hugs,
    Florencia

  6. Hi class! How are you doing?
In my opinion, Language classes are very lively and enjoyable. Although we have a lot of things to do and often we hardly accomplish them, we learn a lot about the language that everybody in the class loves. I think that presentations were really useful for all of us and especially for me, because I get very nervous every time I have to speak at loud in front of the whole class. So, I am trying to take advantage of these kinds of activities and I promise to do my best to improve. The movie was another wonderful idea! Not only did I have a great time watching it, but also I enjoyed working with it in class. Besides, I love movies and “The Mirror has two Faces” was an excellent one. I also go in for working with the blog. I’ve never worked with a blog before. It is a really motivating and innovative activity. What’s more, writing activities are helping me to improve my use of the language. We have written a lot this year and I feel more confident with writing activities than before.
We have done many original things in EDI’s classes, too. I’ve enjoyed them mainly for two reasons: because the classes are very useful to develop your language skills and because I enjoyed everything we’ve done, except maybe the role playing, because it is not my thing.
We are really lucky to have Brian we us! I really agree with the idea of organizing personal meetings with him. He has been helping us, introducing new vocabulary, organizing very interesting activities (for example with “Trifles”) and helping out with some doubts. Thank you, Brian!
Well, that’s all for now... See you in class.

  7. Hello everyone! Well, according to my personal experience, I can say that this year we are dealing with more writings than last year, so I think that I have improved my writing skills... Anyway, I guess that I have to participate more in the oral activities so as to improve my pronunciation and to enrich my vocabulary...
I go along with Flor when she says that we have to do a lot of things at the same time, so we can not do them in a conscious way, or we have no time to correct them, or to talk about them in class. Anyway, in my opinion, the way in which we work in class is great. I love playing games and acting some scenes, and besides, I really like the way in which we dealt with the movie, because we discussed every single detail of it, and it was a great oportunity for us to express our opinions and thoughts, not only concerning the movie, but also concerning other themes like love, relationships and teaching...
Well, that’s all. I really miss you all, I see you soon!

  9. hey there. personally i think language has been really good for me since i've noticed an improvement in the way i express myself. i mean, during this first semester i've achieved a wide range of vocabulary, especially phrasal verbs, and expressions that helped out with my fluency in both writing and speaking. I really liked the oral presentations not only because of the interesting pieces of information shared but also because the exercise itself was really helpful. love :)
